‘Song of A Sinner’

Every saint has a past, every sinner a future, every wine a song? Born and raised on his family’s vineyard, Rajen Toor launched Ursa Major in 2016, joining the ranks of young, minimal intervention winemakers moulding the exciting scene in British Columbia’s, Okanagan Valley. Sustainably farmed, the grapes are plucked from their westward facing home, beside a small lake on sand and alluvial glacial deposits – here there is a lack of late afternoon sun, allowing the fruit to retain lots of freshness and acidity. Harvested the same day, this blend of mineral-heaping sauvignon blanc and floral and musky muscat were foot stomped and soaked overnight before pressing. Left on fine lees for six months with stirring to incorporate the delicious sediment, adding texture and maintaining aromatics. Vegetal undercurrents, many grains of sand, white grapefruit zest, graham cracker sandwiching vanilla ice cream, whipped lees & white strawberry airhead opening up to caramelized oranges.
