A spiced, gushing and mineral, island-raised hybrid red dazzler. After spending most of his life at his familyâs winery, Rajen Toor launched Ursa Major in 2016, joining the blooming scene of low intervention winemakers in BCâs Okanagan Valley. Working with what the valley has to offer year-after-year, they exist today as a prominent reference point for the province and a beloved staple across the lists of natural wine bars and restaurants with a local focus. Grown in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, the grapes were harvested and placed whole cluster into steel tanks, sealed off from oxygen and pumped with CO2 that was being produced by a neighbouring fermentation (#wastenotwantnot!) for a full 18 day carbonic maceration, before being pressed and aged in neutral oak barrels. Welchâs meets Swedish Berries, Dentine cinnamon gum, blueberry flowers, mashed, blackberry juice popsicle, stems, sea salt & brown clay minerality.
