'Birdscape Pink'
Field Blend, Burgenland, Austria
An ethereal red-white field blend of sailing grace, sharp twists & delicate turns. Christian Tschida may be one of the luckiest darn ducklings EVER, cultivating 14 hectares of old vines near Lake Neusiedler, some of which have been tended by his family for four generations! FUN FACT! Christian uses extremely light pressure (he compares it to a handshake) when pressing his grapes and returns the remaining grapes back to the vines (after a short preparation) to aid the health of the vineyard! A field blend dominated by 40-year-old powerfully earthy blaufrankisch and sweetly spiced pinot noir vines. Picked by hand, crushed by foot, and made in what he calls a âpink macerationâ, aka a very light extraction of tannin from a small amount of skin contact. A spritz to begin, pomegranate wrapped in rose petals, peppered walnut, ripe kumquats, St. John's wort, white apple & MOREISH lust, with a side of salt. Enjoy with a couple of venison whips on the back porch, listening to the woodpeckers at work.
