Uh oh, looks like the cat is out of the BAGA! And we all need to get better acquainted with this versatile grape. Filipa Pato grew up immersed in the wine, vineyards and culture of her family and her intense passion led to the creation of her own project in 2001. With the assistance of her husband William, they farm 12 hectares of biodynamic property across Bairrada. FUN FACT! Filipa’s family has been producing wine in Beiras since the 18th century and her grandfather, João, was the first to bottle wine in Bairrada DOC after it officially became an appellation! The RICH baga is sourced partially from Filipa and William’s estate vineyards in Ois do Bairro, and partially from other growers. Fully destemmed, with a very gentle extraction taking place over four weeks of maceration, draws out this fine, firm, but infinitely light-on-its-feet structure. Some perfect notes from the importer – crunchy blackcurrant, wild plum stencilled with thorns, rockrose, pink peppercorns, finely downy tannins & a buzzing mouthfeel. With a light chill, enjoy over a game of charades.
