‘Egyptian Fantasy’
Sylvaner & Carignan, Alsace, Luberon & Jura, France
A textural, mineral and STUNNING zero-zero red-white blend from the Jura. Young winemakers Antoine Le Court-Chedevergne (Angers, France) and Julia Naar (Rio, Brazil) are part of an exciting ripple of low-intervention winemaking talent to newly settle in the harrowed French winemaking region of Jura, also famous for its perfectly salty cheese, Comté! A micro-négoce, they currently source organic and biodynamic grapes from trusted winegrowers all over France, with a more recent accrual and planting of their own vines. The blending of beautifully diverse grapes – one red, one white – really seems to be a staple of their lineup and we are so into it! ‘Egyptian Fantasy’ is a blend of tart, earthy sylvaner from Alsace and meaty, spiced carignan from Luberon, made in the trempette method, which is similar to a tea bag; in this case the carignan grapes are steeped in a tea of sylvaner juice to pull soft tannins and aromatics into the final wine. Plum tree, beehive, mulberry juice, liquorice root, unidentified wild herb harvest, blood in the rain & moon dusty tannins. Enjoy alongside watching the 2001 favourite, The Mummy Returns.
